I spoke to a Star Trac technician and he said that the noise was normal and that it should subside within 15 hours of use. To just 'break it in.' Do you guys think this is correct? I just dont want to make it worse by riding it. My other concern is that by doing work on it myself I may void the warranty. Thanks for your help.I would suggest that you call Jeff's shop nd speak to the professionals. As for the '15 hours break-in period'.yeah,ok It can run smooth as you lik if it's set up correctly, right from the start.Definately put in an order for the bike too,it's straight forward and worth every dollar. A couple things.
If you bought the bike brand (in the box) from ST it should be a pretty simple build unless the bike got bounced around during shipping. Before I put in alot of riding time I would make sure you are not voiding any warranties. If it was me I would put ST on notice there was a problem before attempting any corrective (15 hours of riding) measures. If the problem does not correct itself I would call ST and see if they have a subcontractor or service vendor in your area that you can contact or in the worst case senario have them look at for you.
Finally looking up Jeff at studiocycles.com is very good advice. I have several of his books and they are very well done. Good luck with your new toy.
